February 2000

This month's PathMax Distinction Award goes to the designer of the web page entitled:

The site enables the user to access a database of tumoral immunohistochemical (IHC) reactivities in a number of useful ways. You can seek by tumor name and see a list of reactivities of published IHC stains (even individual clones). You can search by two different tumors and discover the stains which are most likely to discriminate between them. You can also search by IHC name and see a listing of tumors in which the stain's reactivity (or lack thereof) has been described. All of the data has been keyed to the literature for your reading enjoyment... The site is password restricted, but a simple login ID request can be completed to allow pathologists free online access.

The winner demonstrates ingenuity in the application of a web-accessible database and maximal ease of use in the interface. Congratulations to the author:

Dennis Frisman, MD
